RAINBOW MOUNTAIN (VINICUNCA) FULL DAY TOUR
The Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) Full Day Tour takes you to one of the most photographed natural wonders on the planet, hidden deep within the Vilcanota mountain range under the sacred presence of Mount Ausangate (6,384 m).
The remarkable multi-colored strata of Vinicunca (5,036 meters / 16,522 feet)—stripes of turquoise, gold, lavender, terracotta, and ruby red—are the result of millions of years of marine, lake, and river sedimentation exposed by tectonic uplift and Andean glaciation.
Departing early from Cusco, you travel through the southern valley to Cusipata for a wholesome breakfast, then proceed to the Llacto trailhead. Trek 1.5 to 2 hours through high-altitude valleys populated by herds of alpacas and llamas to reach the panoramic summit ridge. Enjoy time for photos and an optional view of the otherworldly Red Valley, followed by a rewarding Peruvian buffet lunch in Cusipata before returning to Cusco.
